- Shakesperience is the proud recipient of the "Arts
Organization of the Year" award from the Waterbury Neighborhood
Council. Congratulations to the evening's other deserving award
winners, and thank you to the dedicated Shakesperience board, staff,
and volunteers who make this recognition possible.
- In August 2011, Shakesperience headlined Festival!
Stratford, produced by Shakesperience's Jeffrey Lapham, on the grounds
of the historic American Shakespeare
Festival Theater. This is the third headline year at Festival!
for the company. Shakesperience has performed Rapunzel; The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe;
The Jungle Book; The Complete
Works of
William Shakespeare (Abridged); A Midsummer Night's Dream; Hamlet;
and Henry V.
- In the five years preceding June 2010, demand for
Shakesperience residency programs increases 350%.
- Spring 2010, Artistic Director Emily Mattina
conducts a residency program that raises creative thinking standardized
test scores 5% in 10 days.
- Shakesperience was founded in 1996 by Emily Mattina
and Jeffrey
Lapham.
- 2004 - established downtown Waterbury housing for
our Resident actors to live in the heart of the revitalization of the
city.
- On behalf of Shakesperience Productions, Inc.,
Emily Mattina accepted the 2004 Celebrate our Communities Award from
the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.
- In October, 2006, Emily Mattina was selected by the
New Haven Business Times among the top "Forty under 40" business
leaders in New Haven County. She was recognized for her business
accomplishments and her community involvement.
- 2006-2007 School Year marks 6 years of our
Shakespeare Interactive Workshops performed by PCPA Theaterfest and
directed by Emily Mattina in California's Central Coast region.
- 93% of Shakesperience Productions' client schools
schedule performances year-after-year.
- Annually delivering more than 550 workshops and
performances of the highest literary, educational, and artistic value
in at least 70 communities.
- Collaborations and partnerships with regional
agencies include work with The Northwest Connecticut Convention and
Visitors Bureau, Main Street Waterbury, Greater Waterbury Arts
Roundtable, the Waterbury Region Arts & Culture Collaborative, and
the Downtown Waterbury Merchants.
- Artistic Director Emily Mattina is proud to be
included by the Arts Division of the Connecticut Commission on Culture
& Tourism in their Roster of Teaching Artists.
